Service September - fantastic everyone who has brought their Passports back so far!

Look at these amazing people who have taken the Service September Challenge. Everyone else in R14 please bring your Passports back tomorrow! 

We have done a lot of different things for our whanau - folding washing, looking after younger siblings, picking up rubbish at the beach, bringing the neighbour's wheelie bin in for them and the list goes on! 

This made us feel proud, responsible, happy. 

This made others feel glad, helped out and proud.

Here are Maddie and Courtney delivering the Courier bag to the office. It is full of our Sticky Word Poems written on postcards and a huge class poster all about us. This will be picked up by the Courier and sent to Wellington to Khandallah School. We hope they enjoy reading our poetry!

Mandarin Greetings and Paper cutting

Miss Han has been sharing Chinese culture with us as well as teaching us how to say our name in Mandarin and Greetings for different times of the day.

We need to practice before we have our lesson again next week. If you are stuck then ask a friend in our class who can speak Mandarin to help you with your pronunciation.

Why do we read books? What skills do we use to find information? How does reading entertain us?

The Fantails are learning about how to form an open or closed question. They talked about what they thought each type was first and then read their books. Following that they formed questions of their own. Here they are talking to each other about which are closed and which are open and WHY they think this.

Alistair was a great Pirate Chief in a play. How do you think he did with trying to use expression and read at a good pace for the audience?

The Tuataras group performed a play. The whole class has been self assessing and peer assessing their Fluency skills. Here this group perform a play with expression, a clear voice and using a suitable pace for the audience. The rest of the class gave feedback and feedforward. 

These points are useful to talk about at home when you listen to someone reading. We have used this rubric to self assess and peer assess already. Now we know what we are working on.

And we are all online - Hooray!

Our subject was a Tree Hut design based on the story The Tree Hut Treaty. Mrs Trembath has been teaching us how to login to our Google Drive and this is our first activity to practice our ICT skills. Mrs Trembath is really impressed with how we persevered and believed we could do it without her help. Ka pai tamariki! You have really shown your Mana this time!

This is our first try at using Google Draw. We have played around with the tools of the app and look what we have created all by ourselves.
