We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo!! Our Inquiry begins for Rangatiratanga - Leadership

Sorry everyone I thought I had hit the publish button but no...
so here you are -

How will we take our Inquiry further? Leadership - what is the food of a leader? Communication and knowledge.

How can we make an impact on the world around us and make sure our role in the environment has a positive impact on animals around us?
The Zoo educators at the zoo talked about our native species and the endemic creatures we have in New Zealand. We have since been writing our wonderings and what we would like to find out about the animals at the Zoo.

Now you have seen our art we can share how we made it!

Choosing tiny beads to thread onto craft wire to make the central part of our hibiscus flowers - this required a lot of fine motor control and perseverance!

Twisting pipe cleaners and bending them through the clear plastic dragonfly wings took a bit of fiddling around and at times a buddy to hold the pieces still.

After the dye was dry we had to lay out all the pieces and think about how to layer the composition together - no one art work was the same as anyone else's design. Split pins and glue guns held it all together.

Vector and Safety around electricity - be smart everyone!

R14 and R15 were really interested in the facts behind how we connect to electricity and how much goes into our houses!

Elspeth from Vector was a great presenter with so many facts and stories to tell us. Did you know we are 70% water?

Eliza, Adam and Lucas tried on the special electricity resistant clothes the Electrical Engineers wear when they are working on our power lines. Leather and rubber materials are protective fabrics for the clothes they wear.
