OUTSIDE AT LAST! HATS ON AND SUNBLOCK ON!

We have all been on the field at last! The track has been painted back on and the Year 3 and 4 teams have been upskilling themselves ready for Athletics Day on Friday.

Room 14 have been watching all the goings on from our window as our amazing bike track takes shape! Patience has paid off. Now we can all enjoy it! Wonderful!

We ran the track first to get an idea of what it would be like when we cycled it.

We discuss and think about how to put our pedals in neutral when going round the bend so that the pedals do not catch on the asphalt.

All the bikes are lined up on the field.

Everyone goes at their own pace and we encourage each other by cheering and looking out for everyone.

Many children tried the advanced track and had a great amount of calculated risk pay off.

Mandarin meets technology - we love Quizlets!!

Miss Han has been making our Mandarin Learning more interactive and collaborative with Quizlets about the basic language we are learning - colours, body parts etc. Here we are in teams and competing against the clock to see who can match the correct Mandarin words to the images. Miss Han sets the quiz on live so that each team can see how fast they can get their answers in and view the leaderboard at the front screen. There was a quiz for those who can speak Mandarin at home to set them a higher challenge and one for those who are learning the basics.

Miss Han has been sharing Chinese culture with us as well as teaching us how to say our name in Mandarin and Greetings for different times of the day.

We need to practice before we have our lesson again next week. If you are stuck then ask a friend in our class who can speak Mandarin to help you with your pronunciation.

What do you think we were learning today? We had lots of fun learning a new game. It involved planning ahead and directionality. There was plenty of cheering and support from the teams to be heard!

Our subject was a Tree Hut design based on the story The Tree Hut Treaty. Mrs Trembath has been teaching us how to login to our Google Drive and this is our first activity to practice our ICT skills. Mrs Trembath is really impressed with how we persevered and believed we could do it without her help. Ka pai tamariki! You have really shown your Mana this time!

This is our first try at using Google Draw. We have played around with the tools of the app and look what we have created all by ourselves.

Music with Mrs Dowden - can you recognise the tune?

Room 14 have only had two lessons with Mrs Dowden and can already play 3 notes and follow the beat and rhythm together. Great listening and careful movement is required. Can you name the instruments they are playing too?

Tinker time - woohoo - collaborative and creative learning!

Edisons - read a simple code and create a journey. Lots of experimentation here, Mrs Trembath gave no instructions. We had children teach their skills to the next little group.

Patience and creativity here. And on such a hot afternoon a little mindfulness too. 

Beading requires careful planning and patterning.

This group started to add lego pieces to their edisons and add some of their own personality!
